Italian cold fusion machine passes another test
Thu Nov 3, 2011
The output of this so-called cold fusion device is electrical power. Petroleum is not used to produce electricity.
For defense industry, a golden decade comes to an end
Mon Aug 15, 2011
What the government needs to do is predict exactly what threats will emerge in the next 20 - 30 years and then build only the weapons, ammo and spare parts which are necessary. That way there would be no waste and no surprises.
Defense cuts loom large for 'super committee'
Sun Aug 14, 2011
Gary, I sympathize with your comments but I would like to add 2 things. All government spending has in it, almost by definition, a great deal of waste.
S&P downgrades US-related bond issues
Mon Aug 8, 2011
The federal government is spending $4 billion per day more than it is receiving with no end in sight. How is Obama going to "get the debt under control" without even having a plan. Let me guess...corporate jets are the solution and bullet trains are the answer.

New rules to require far better fuel economy
Fri Jul 29, 2011
How do you know this will reduce oil consumption. How do you know that if mpg went up people would not end up driving more and consuming the same amount of gas that they did before.
Wealth in America: Whites-minorities gap is now a chasm
Tue Jul 26, 2011
Understand that these statistics are based on "households" not on individuals. Groups that have a higher percentage of married persons are going to be scored higher. The article does not state what effect this has on the numbers. It could be substantial.
Grizzly bear mauls teens hiking in Alaska wilderness
Mon Jul 25, 2011
How could the state trooper say that the hikers "had all the right gear" when they obviously did not. No experienced person walks through bear country without a firearm or, or at the very least, bear spray. The reason for that is that a bear's behavior is not predictable.
